Health and Safety

MOST ACCIDENTS IN THE WORKPLACE ARE CAUSED BY 'SLIP, TRIP OR FALL' OCCURENCES.

Is your business managing these risks properly?  There are many legal firms who will prosecute on a no win no fee basis. To minimise this risk you must demonstrate 'due diligence'. One of the ways you can do this is by training your staff to Level 2.

It is a legal requirement to train your staff in Health and Safety annually (minimum), or when anything changes within the business  - accidents, refurbishments, change to the style of operations etc.

To assist you with this we offer several training courses.

Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace.

This is a one day course comprising 6 hours tuition and a multiple choice test at the end. Candidates need to answer 20 out of 30 questions correctly to pass.

Our most popular Health and Safety course, this is suitable for all staff, supervisors and senior team members  and gives them a good level of understanding of their responsibilities to and for fellow employees, as well as the employers' responsibilities. This is recognised by all inspecting bodies and demonstrates that your staff are trained to a level where they know how to work in a healthy and safe manner. As an employer this can also form part of a 'due diligence' defence during any legal proceedings.

The course comprises:

  • Introduction to health and safety and health and safety law
  • Health and welfare
  • Safety
  • The workplace and work equipment
  • Risk assessment, manual handling and hazardous substances
  • Ergonomics, working at height, transport and noise vibration

Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace

This is a three day course designed for senior and junior managers, line managers, supervisors and anyone responsible for other team members. This course can be conducted at your workplace on three consecutive days, or on one day for three consectutive weeks (recommended). This course goes into greater detail of how to manage Health and Safety effectively in your business, and is a recognised award that inspecting bodies identify with. It demonstrates to them that you take the welfare of your staff seriously.  For further details please go to the contact us page.

COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) Training (half day)

Do you handle hazardous substances within your business? Do your staff know how to handle them and what to do if things go wrong? Do you have safety data sheets and COSHH risk assessments? We will visit your business, assess your training needs, and implement training and coaching in this vital area.

Risk Assessment Training (half day)

Do you have risk asessments? We can train you how, when it is necessary and when they should be reviewed and updated. We can provide the tools for you to do it yourself and the training for this, or we can observe your operation and do it for you - or we can provide a mixture of both. This half day trains you how, when, what, why, needs and frequency. Sample risk assessments provided.

Fire Risk Assessment (half day) & Fire Safety (half day)

You must by law have a Fire Risk Assessment for your premises and operation. The Fire Officer will no longer come and inspect your premises for you - you have to do it yourself. This one day course (if you choose both modules), will instruct you how to undertake a Fire Risk Assessment, when it is needed, what risks you need to take into account, and how to keep it up to date.

Fire Safety is a vital part of the safety of everyone on the premises - we will train your staff in awareness, what to do in case of fire, and how to keep everyone safe. Fire Safety training must be done (minimum) annually. This forms part of your Fire Safety Plan - which you must have.
